Latitude 29 Mai Tai

Latitude 29 Mai Tai Had a little Christmas gift card money to spend and bought a bottle of Clément V.S.O.P. Rhum Agricole Vieux. This is the rum used in the Latitude 29 Mai Tai, one of my favorites of all time. I previously had the very lightly aged Clement Select Barrel and didn't find it particularly compelling. But after trying the unaged Clement Première Canne and liking it in cocktails, I thought I should give the rest of the Clement line more of a chance. I've been doing research for a Mai Tai project I'm working on, and came across the recommendation from Jeff "Beachbum" Berry to use this particular Clement expression, paired with my all-time favorite, Appleton 12. I must say this was an excellent Mai Tai. It doesn't hit all the rum notes that I generally prefer, but this was not "slumming" it all. A little bit lighter and lets the almond flavor of the Orgeat come through a bit more than with my regular mix of heavier Jamaican Mai Tai rums. Definitely a combo I'll put into rotation.
