Trader Vic’s Zoom Meetup with Marie King and Jeanie Grant A very nice and well-attended Zoom session today put together by @westcoastmseve of @tradervicsworldwide. The guests of honor were @mariekingoftonga and @jeanie.with.a.bottle, so there was plenty of great discussion around getting started in the hospitality industry, cocktail ingredients, and technique. One interesting question was regarding the use of a spindle mixer vs. cocktail shaker for tiki cocktails. Jeanie noted the more juice in the cocktail the more the cocktail will froth when using the mixer, especially fresh pineapple juice. Jeanie also noted that she thinks the Mai Tai should not be spindle mixed, but shaken, because of the delicate nature of Orgeat. I know many Bar pros use the mixer, but for myself I always shake. Something to think about at least. Nice to see many familiar faces participating as an audience and in the Q&A.
